Well, it's obviously a snapshot type of photo. There is a lot of clutter in the background that distracts, and Chi-Ching is somewhat clipped off at the bottom. It's also a little soft (why?). I do like the warm glow here....

I guess it's hard to pose animals btw...... They don't listen to us.

I agree about the background. It's simply too busy. Maybe taking these shots in portrait mode will throw off the background enough to make sure he's the center of attention. Or try something different. Hope you don't mind but I did a bit of a crop. It's not perfect because I was simply trying to block out enough of the background but it's just to give you the idea.

Or do what I did with your peek-a-boo pic and change the background altogether.

By the way, I love this pic. He's too cute! His expression really is priceless.

Thanks, I think sometimes it is hard for me to notice the background being too busy when it is in my own house. I like the crop. I will work a little on paying more attention to the background when I am in the house. Thanks.

Chow, that's always a good way to go. But remember: We're talking animals. Like babies, too often the best expressions, actions, etc. happen when the surroundings simply aren't ideal. You can't just let the shot escape you. So practice the aperture settings so that you can be at the ready to get that shallow DOF in place. My little background switch trick has been learned precisely because of my pets. Their cutest moments are always when my house is wrecked or when there are a million people around. So I've learned how to extract them to salvage those precious moments without the distractions.
