    White Sands

Another 645 Ektachrome film scan of yesteryear .. White Sands NM early one morning. I believe this is the time - the only time - I camped out there to get the morning light (they don't open the gates early enough for photographers' liking).

645 Mamiya camera. What a hassle to use in the field, but when you get everything to line up, which happens too infrequently, it seems worth it.

Great light GB! and the tonal range is awesome....this shot gives me the idea of a place where the time is stopped...all muted, frozen.

Yeah, tonal range is a good description of it. It is quite saturated without seeming so.

Thanks everyone. I think the colors and smooth tonal range somewhat save the image, as there really isn't any subject to look at. The right side is fine but the left side seems untidy to me, like an unmade bed (my bed .. chuckle).

I may be going back to this place in a few weeks ... ideas?

I dont have a clue on what the terrain is like over there but for me sand/desert shots really get boosted when you show the horizon...the more the better...so that would be my suggestion a "longer" shot....I want to see more

    Another KODAK moment!
Here's an idea. Earn some gas money! Turn the photo into postcards and small matted prints. Sell them to the tourist as they exit the park! You will need your 645 set up, a lawn chair and a VW bus for this to work.

Beautiful. And very good scan. I can't remember if you mentioned which scanner you've been using...
