White or red?

Following your comments on my latest twins picture and the lack of interaction betwen the two characters I have decided to reshoot the scene differently.

Critique is most appreciated.

The only minor thing I see is the twin on the left, her eyes are looking more at the wall than at the other twin. but the post processing is the best. Other than the eye contact this is great work Seb.

If I could have total control and be picky, I'd like the twin on the left to mirror the body position of the twin on the right. I'm noticing what seems to be a difference in confidence levels between the two girls, and the "less confident" one on the left bothers me. Like the story is that the red is already winning the argument. I'd like to see the white showing a little more attitude.

But I like the shot a lot, and photographically it's really striking. Great use of color.

I have to agree with Greg... I noticed the eyes on the left "twin" right away. But other than that it is a superb blending... Will you share your secret(s)???

I am so impressed. My PS skills/knowledge is novice at best, so I am in really impressed at the result. The exposier of the two shots seem to be right on, the colors are great... it is very good. I hope to have this ability some day.

Greg: Thank you for your observation, I failed to notice the eyes thing.

Opus: Actually, I wanted the two charaters to be different (the same person yet not the same so to speak) but I welcome your view.

Rocket Scientist: I had troubles with this one. I couldn't match the exposure betwen the two shots so I ended up literally pasting the right twin in the left twin picture and I softened the edges in an attempt to avoid the "pasted in" look. Other than that, there is been selective color satuation, contrast and brighness adjustments, a moderate blue photo filter to compensate for the warm light, some dodging on the twins.... I wish I knew about studio lighting, I feel I have spent too much time post processing that one....

Personally, I like the fact that there is not perfect symetry between the posing of the twins. I like the composition a lot. Specifically, the burst of color the sweaters add to the middle of the photo since the rest of the photo is very lean and clean.

Seb, technically you have it nailed. This looks great. I would agree with the comments on the eyes of the left twin not looking a5t the other, but that is something you will work out soon enough. The image is very entertaining, and therefore i think it is sucessful. Great work, and good to see you motivating others.

Terrific other than for the eyes which everyone picked up on. The other thing that bugs me and it seems noone else is the white rectangle sticking out of your sisters head left twin.

Other than that I like the fact that their pose is not identical and the PS work is excellent. Now I really must learn PS.

Great work Seb!! Looks awesome. I really don't mind the different looks, I think that makes the picture.

Also, I see that you were shooting at dusk, and I think that might just be the trick. Shot as late as possible so you totally control the lighting.

Larry: Thanks for the good words. I too like how the colors came off here.

Gary: Well my sister is getting somewhat bored to act as a model (although she laughed at the end result...). I take this as another learning experience, there will be no gaze issue in the next twins shot.

Roger: The white thing is a reflection of the main light in the room. I would need to either get a polarizer or to shoot this during day time to avoid that. It didn't came off as being that distracting to me at first glance though. I like your suggestion of title... lol

Thank you for commenting. Honnestly, I can't quite remember how long it took me to make this specific image but it's been too time consuming. I had troubles and it was a "trial and error" kind of process to get to the end result. However, I have modified my approach since then. Moreover it may take one hour and an half from the actual shooting to the final picture. As for flaws, the left twin isn't looking to the right one lol....

Also, I think the focus is more on the back wall with the wine than on the girls. eye contact has been mentioned, and that's definitely one of the toughest things to correct in PP. A very good idea and good execution, but with a few more small adjustments it can gain a lot.

The reflected light fixture in the window - that could possibly be cloned out. The label on the bottle of white wine is blown out - maybe burn it in just a touch.

Thanks. You are very rigth about the colors. That's odd because my monitor is calibrated and I clearly remember seeing this image as being "neutral" when I worked on it yet I now see the yellow tint 3 months later.
The main light source was the room incandescent lighting yet there's been some fill flash as you may guess by the white reflection on the toaster. I'd need some softboxes for these.....
