    White Fashion

I was out trying my home made softbox outside to get to understand the lighting as well as the f11 and f16 against my flash I think I need more power. Well any help with composition or lighting would be great thanks.

There are others that are proficient in the portrait business here and I'm sure they can help you much more than i can.

for me. the 3rd one is my favorite here.

In the 2nd image, i wish the background wasn't so split. had it been all brick or all cream, i think it would've worked better. also the area where her hand is (with the glasses) has the cream background intrude in an unflattering way. Right below the glasses. I wish that was all brick also.

1st one is too tight for me, and the smile looks kinda fake.

What i like about the 3rd is the candidness and how I can see the nice textures of the coat and overall sharpness is pretty good. it suffers from a tiny bit of back lighting due to all the white snow. i think it's more of an illusion to the eye that renders her darker than she should've been but it still works in my opinion. the only thing i would do is chop the top floor from the building behind her.

thanks for the advise. I was useing a softbox DIY and I wanted to try it outside for the first time. the fake smile was because my wife was a little cold and i kept saying "one more shot, ok one more" you know how it works. The edits I will change (good eye) thank you for your help.

Soft box appears to be a success and thanks goodness for patient loved ones! When you turned her with the street background you could afford to go up a stop or more to keep the background colors from blowing out and crop in a little closer to avoid background distractions like the green and red blobs hovering in the parking lot. Is this a full size tudio style softbox of a seperate light and stand or a SB style strap on for an on camera flash?
