How cute is that!?! My aunt had one of these named boo-boo... they're the sweetest dogs I don't know much of anything about animal shots except what I've heard about getting the eyes in good focus, looks like you did great with that. I'd say its a very nice shot. The expression is priceless.
This is priceless - looks like he's been waiting for years!
As for a critique of the photo - The door frame on the left not being vertical is a minor issue and it being blown out is another. The composition is wonderful but the bag on the door handle could be cloned out.
All very minor issues

Thank you for taking the time to respond. He gives me this look every time I come home late.
John - Nothing is critique proof unless you don't show it.
Amithi - Thank you, he is the sweetest dog, unless you are a bunny rabbit.
Roger - Thanks much for the input as always. I had a bash at your suggestions. Is this more of what you were suggesting? The door frame is just a casualty I'm afraid. He had been lying in the doorway watching flies while I was making a different image of him [2nd attachment]. The fly must have zinged him because he hopped up and gave me this look. I was just about to take a picture of some flowers in my garden but his face caught me, so I squeezed this one off quickly but had already reset the exposure. Curses!
They are terrific shots and the original is loads better.
I wish Meggie would sit still long enough for a photo. 1/4000 isn't fast enough :LOL

I actually like the tones of the dog better in the very first one. I do, however, think getting rid of the bag on the door helped this picture out a bit. The expression on the dog's face is great
I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan
~Thanks again Roger. I would very much like to see a picture of this speeding bullet you've named Meggie. I'm sure you're more than up to the challenge.
~Liz, thank you for your comment. I think I agree with you about the tones. I started from scratch when I redid the post and fiddled with the contrast more on the second try.
~Lava, Thanks! It is just too bad. I framed it vertically in camera to accentuate his long legs but as I said forgot to reset the exposure. It is one of his favorite places to watch the world go by from though so perhaps he'll give me another opportunity and I'l get it right next time.
~Tom, many thinks for the interpretation. You obviously understand him.
