As they do at many beaches the roads just sorta end at the sand here at Jax Beach.

Any thought?

That grass is like 8 feet tall. I was standing on a deck 2 and a half feet about the ground and still I couldn't see over top of it. I tried to incorporate it as best I could. Do you think the image is a failure because of the grass?

no, it's not failure.
it just looks like the grass takes away the air. It looks like it to me probably because of the picture is half grass half sky (at least it looks like it's going to be) but you cut the sky. Or like you cowered
i don't know what exactly is not right in there, maybe you shold even make sky in phoshop.
it does look good though - high grass, the sky and the bird

There's some out of focus ones right in the foreground that are very distracting. The main one is right in the sky area and is quite noticable. Those dark streaks are quite distracting. Is the sign sharpened up with PS? It looks a little on the fake side for me. But other then that, nice shot and i love the color contrast.

I really like this. I dont think the grass is too overbearing at all. I do agree on Jared's point where there are some distracting ones out of focus... but all in all, I think the composition is great, and I love the rich color of your shot.
