    What time is it ?

I go past this house on my Commute , I only recently noticed it , now I am facinated bu it. I have never seen a sun dial mounted on the side of a house like this . It is too bad the tree grew up in 200 years .

Okay, Its been a long time since schooldays but where's is VIII - or 8 on the large dial?

As for the photo the verticals need a little adjustment and possibly a tad more contrast to make it pop

If you look between the VII and the 1780 you can see the VIII showing there smaller on the top right hand side of the dial, not the big VIII it is half the size, towards the 80.

    Peter,

Now that I looked closely there is the 8 missing in the large numerals and 9 in the little numerals.

Hmmm! confusing how to read the clock.

An interesting subject. I'd suggest a more straighton viewpoint and a curves adjustment to brighten up the whites. Did you use some exposure compensation when taking this predominantly white shot?

    Hi splats,
I like the idea of the shot. There are many lines with shadows which may form a very composition. The shot gives a very distorted view of things or the "things are not normal" feeling. Is that your intention?

Well , I would have liked to square up a littel better on this , but that tree you see the shadows from is in the way if I move over any amout , as it was I had to crop out some of the branches hat showed.

Also It is an intereting sun dial on so many levels , It is the only one I have ever seen mounted on the side of a house, and 2) the inner dial is for reading the time during daylight savings time , the outer dial is standard time. I have never seen that either.

splats, I'm quite taken by that sundial...I think it would be a good stand-alone shot. BTW did you colorize that shutter? It appears green, while the rest of the shot is b & w.
