What a tangled web we weave...

Yes, I'm still trying to get the elusive web shot! Or just the spider. So, here's two more attempts. Both taken in the evening. Tomorrow when the sun is reflecting off the web I'll try it again and hope it doesn't come out too blown out. Thoughts? Suggestions?

    Hi

My suggestion is early in the morning like sunup. Also bring a spray water bottle and lightly spray the web if it isn't already wet.

    Getting there.

If there's going to be a spider on the web, it may need to be sharp as well. The spider will draw the eye, and the web will lead it there, so it should be sharp across until the spider, then blur into the BG so the eye doesnt go out of the frame. Perhaps the DOF is too narrow on this attempt.

    You're improving, keep pushing.

Thank you for the encouragement! My family thinks I'm insane! I'm terrified of spiders yet a big lens allows me to stay at a safe distance. I'll keep after it and share the results. Does anyone know how to get the web to show more in the top picture?

On your top photo, it seems that the angle of light is the issue. Where was the light source? it seems backlit, and the only way to overcome that will be a kiss of the flash, maybe your onboard flash would be enough, at the right angle. Don't be afraid to get all kinds of angles, and expirement.
