    What a Face!

Just got my new PnS Panasonic DMC-TZ5. I haven't read the instructions so I was just pointing and shooting.

First picture post, so please go easy on me. :blush2:

The last crop is best as it eliminates distracting background.
Would like to see more depth of field, though.

Yes.. I agree. I wanted to crop out the heater and such on that one. I also agree with the depth of field. Unfortunately, so far I haven't found any manual settings such as fstop or manual focus, on this camera. It has a gazillion presets that I have only scratched the surface with. I need to read the manual and find the best setting for taking pictures of this subject. Looking back I should have turned the room light off and just used flash light. I was having an issue with glare on the tank.

    Thanks for your comments .

I am glad you are having fun with your new camera but these images aren't really all that good.

The composition is all right and the idea is really good but the focus and depth of field keep these in the category of "fine first efforts" to be tossed once you really have the camera dialed in.

Keep shooting and posting because I do like your ideas of what to shoot.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Exactly...

I totally agree.. I do want to learn the characteristics of each preset in the camera and try to make up for not having manual setting. I am also playing around with using paint shop pro and which compression settings and image resizing . Still learning ....

    Thanks!
