    From a Wedding...

I posted this in viewfinder, too. I'd really love to hear what you think of these...

I know nothing about "wedding photography" but I think the beach shots are great and the white dress is well exposed. Great idea and they look superb on my monitor.

On a technical note these are excellent. The exposures are good!

On an aesthetic one, I think the second, third and fourth photographs are the best.
They are the ones that just hold my attention more.

I am certain that the happy couple are very pleased!

I shoot about 8- 10 wedding a year- and have not had the chance to do a beach wedding! Seeing your pictures has me salivating to photograph a beach wedding! I absolutely love the shot of the couple running on the beach! AMAZING! Can I ask what you shoot with and how you were able to keep the detail of the bride's dress with all of that sand?! Being a Jr. member - I'm not sure if that is against the rules or not...

I mentioned in the "viewfinder" post that this was my second wedding and kind of impromtu. I had brought my gear and found out I was shooting five minutes beforehand (for a family member.) The running was their idea after we had loosened up with some other fun stuff. (User tip: it helps to hve them run into the wind.)

I used a Nikon D70 and 35mm 2.0 lens with a circular polarizer for all of these shots. I think the polarizer is critical at the beach. The setting was "matrix" metering at f/8, except for the running shot, which was set at f/2.8. Shutter speeds were 1/320 or 1/400 up to 1/3200 for the 2.8 shot.

For those of you who may do a wedding, I brought a 20mm, 35mm, 50mm, 90mm macro and 70-200. I used the 35mm for 75% of the shots, the 70-200 for almost all the rest with one or two macros of the cake and one or two 20mm shots. I brought an SB800 flash and used it with bounce or a diffuser for all but the beach shots.
