Kind of a neat idea for subject material. Needs better focus, (the dreaded DOF) and there's a cross piece in the right of the photo that really detracts from the effect of the diagonal rattan (or bamboo or whatever) pieces and their weave.
The light might fall more evenly or symmetrically (depending on how you view this) to allow the shadows to provide the counterpoint to the wood.
This could be a form type exercise in B/W as well.
One needs to be cautious that photos like this don't just become pics of sticks.
