Too visually balanced from the point of view of composition.

    Re: Weathered Wall

Liban, what a great subject. It is so interesting that it holds my attention as I scan over the textures and various conditions of the windows and the things hanging out of them.
I agree that it is too visually balanced and would have thought it stronger if it were. . .say three windows and space off to the side, or the four on top with lots of wall below etc.
As I look into this, zooming in on that one window alone with the laundry would be great as well. I'm hoping you have more of these scenes, cause i really like these subjects.

Actually Liban I would like to have seen the remainder of the bottom window here, making it even more visually balanced perhaps, but I don't find this a problem. There is enough visual variation in each individual window, through which my eye is invited into each room with curiosity. The random cables and that great big crack and textures in the paintwork make for prolonged viewing.
Looks like last centuries washing hanging out the top window.

I agree with Tom again, about the window at the bottom hanging partially out of the picture. Other than that I feel it's a good picture.

    True...so very true...

The window at the bottom would have been better in or out...

I don't find the balance bothersome in this case... actually i think it is better balanced than otherwise... this is about architecture, and the variations in each individual window is more than enough to justify the rest...

Nice job.... hope you have another with the bottom window in...

I like this one a lot as it is but it would be improved with the inclusion of the bottom window in its entirity.

The textures in the wall and the cables enhance the new v old featured in the wall and the washing adds so much intrigue as to who lives there.

    Well spotted.

Reminds me of trips to Italy, Spain and Souther France.

    Re: Weathered Wall

Thanks guys. I had a longer response but my safari crashed while I was typing away. I took a few of this building, though not enough because I had a friend with me at the time and I couldn't spend as much time as I wanted to.

Sadly, I don't have the bottom of that one window in that particular frame.

    Here are the others:

Lee/Liban - I find the second batch you posted here better than the first (just too much negative space on the first one...), esp the bottom one in vert. format. I luv that splash of red there - very artistic and sort of an retro color combo.. reminds me of laundry detergent somehow, that blue and red. But in a GOOD way!

    Re: Weathered Wall

Thanks GB. I know exactly which detergent you're talking about.

I wish I had more time with this building. Looking back at the shots I have now, there are so many characteristics that I could've focused on, like the bricked section, etc . This building had so much character to offer. I failed at capturing it in a way to convey it properly.

Btw, Liban is my name ;) so you can call me that.
