You hit the nail on the head with the title. As far as the photos go, I like your closeups, although I'd like to see what the actual object is----I'm guessing an old barrel? In the black and white, the coloring of the two clover leaves is a nice touch, but it seems to me that the shadows of the iron bands on the barrel tend to dominate. In the color shots, the textures of the wood and rusty iron really stand out well. That little area of missing wood in the top shot is distracting though.
I like the texture you bring out when shooting a close-up like this. The colors are rich too. I'm not wild about the out of focus though. Better depth of field would add greatly. You should try using a tripod too, I think you will enjoy the results.
