    We Buy Old Horses

What I thought was an interesting thermometer obviously used for marketing purposes even way back in the day . .
    What do you think?

This says everything about old Gary. The wood and nails and textures with the shadowing are very appealing. I like it. Were you using a 50mm? serious DOF

    ..thermometer still works
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!
    Thx, Rod

Gary, I think it works well. The color treatment is perfect for the subject and clean trucks help too. Nice find.

I like it , it has a nice tone to it. I think you could burn some of the words and horse on the sign to make it stand out a bit more.

I love it.... such an interesting subject... I know it sounds weird, but not many people agree with it any more.. I love it!

Gary - This shot has an vintage feeling to it. If this is what you were aiming for, it works. I'm a bit undecided on the composition.. in some ways I want to see less of the surroundings and more of the sign. But... not sure.

The lighting here is different, seems like it is partially illuminated by ?

I think it's a photo that tells us something about the past, which had something similar to what happens today, just like the temperatures.

    Re: We Buy Old Horses

Thanks for the comments and critique.

I'm happy to know this works for the most part as it is. The post processing was of course done to give the feel of the old subject.

I do not feel that zooming in on and centering the subject would work as well becuase part of what I liked about this was the old wood and surrounding that the thermometer was hung on. That was part of the appeal for me.

Rod, this was taken with my Tamron 28-75 2.8 lens (incredible lens, especially for the money) at 44mm so you were pretty close in your guess.

I had no tripod with me this day and the room was dark, lit only by one old tungsten lightbulb and some outside ambient lighting from a window.

I took several shots of this but nothing was coming out sharp enough with the slow shutter speed. I finally bumped the ISO up to 1000 for this, 3.5 @ 1/45 and was able to get a nice and sharp exposure.

My previous tries were at 640 ISO and 4.0@ 1/20. I just could not hold steady enough at that speed for a crisp shot. (too much coffee. . . .?)

This was taken at "Space Farms" a great place with history worth googling for more info. . . .

    Thanks again
