Another of my Watergate Rorschach images, Trying to decide which way I like it best. What is the feeling from the group?

    Re: Which Way?

Not sure why, it just seems a lot more surreal and dramatic in portrait.

Portrait for me. Looks like an interesting pedestal

Landscape reminds me too much of a Star Wars fighter....

    Re: Which Way?

I've voted landscape - it seems more comforting.

(Comforting?!? Maybe these images of yours are putting me in a state of needing their help...)

In landscape it seem more abstract. This way the image hangs in space like a bridge.

In portrait I feel it has been stood on end for an arbitrary reason.

    Re: Which Way?

I would go with diagonal and i would blur the edges where all 4 images touch - from those 2 i would pick landscape

Has to be portrait, I am with OldSchool, it looks too much like a pedestal in landscape, really dramatic stuff!

I must go to this Watergate of which you speak. Cool pictures you're getting from there!

    Re: Which Way?

Thanks very much everyone for weighing in with your comments and opinions on the beginnings of a kind of departure project for me. There are a few follow ups to this thread which I wanted to post.

    1. The poll was nearly dead even between which way these images should be shown. Not only here but almost everyone who has seen them has made valid cases for and against which orientation they prefer. So I have decided to leave it up to the viewer and may even try to figure out a way to mount them so they can be spun to suit the viewer as they hang. At the least a portrait and landscape mount. Still kicking that around.

    2. I contacted the Watergate Hotel to arrange some permission for doing some night exposures there as well and showed them a few of these preliminary images. They gave me permission and have asked to possibly use copies on their website. Hopefully that will lead to a place to show these at their proper size.

    3. Here is a link to my web gallery that has the images from the night session. http://wgpatterns.clicksphotography.net/ Please feel free to comment on anything you find in there. I have also posted a few in my PR gallery. Sorry I haven't quite figured out how to link these properly yet so you'll probably have to copy and paste the url.

    Many Thanks!
