    Waterworld

We've been having some crazy weather lately...lots of rain and sunshine intermixed. It's great for photography, however! Here's a shot from this afternoon taken at Kerry Park. Enjoy!

    Mahesh,

Great concept, and a wonderfully strong composition. Having the rainbow counteract the water flow, just perfect. I love it, your work is very impressive!

    Nice shooting,

    Jared

That is so neat! It took me awhile to figure out what it was, at first I thought it was a composite.
Can you explain the white lines in the water? Looks like electricity to me.
    Very imaginative,
    Mark.

Thanks, Jared! I've always wanted to shoot this shot, an when I saw the rainbow today...I knew the time had come.

Thanks, Mark! The white lines that do kinda look like electricity are just the sunlight reflecting off moving water. Glad you liked the image.

Creative shot. For next time, I'm wondering if you need the building to the right of the fountan lever and if you could get the skline buildings a little sharper at perhaps at a more optimal time of day - the light is a litle harsh.

Thanks for the honest feedback, Lava Lamp. I have several versions of this shot and I agree that the building on the right should be cropped and in my final print it is!

The light, though a little harsh, was at 7 PM and definitely very low on the horizon. Because the buildings are so tall and close together, there are no long shadows. To get the rainbow, one needs direct sunlight. I suppose I'll take the slightly harsh light and keep the rainbow rather than have soft light and lose the bow. You see, I have countless shots of the place and just this one with a rainbow. Plus, the sharpness is just right on my monitor. And at 100%, it's sharp as a tack. Maybe it looks a little soft because of JPEG compression?

Here's a skylike shot with softer light. Hope you like this better...even has Mt. Rainier in it.

    Re: Waterworld

    Great creative shot!
I was actually thinking about you this weekend when we had those huge rainbows going into seattle. I left my camera at home when I was out and about and didn't get a chance to capture anything.
Really impressive creative shot of an area that is constantly photographed over and over again.
    Cheers.
I'm always mentally photographing everything as practice.
