    Watertank and Door

How do you feel about the inclusion of the door? I have been ask to cover this subject by several people but have never really found an angle I like due to limited access.

Well Greg, I think it adds balance to the shot, and might be worthy of investigation on its own. It certainly falls into line with the theme of the shot......old, decrepit, and no longer in use. I think you composed this one pretty well, and the sky adds that element of dreariness. I like it.

    Re: Watertank and Door

greg, like the subject matter a lot. As john suggested you might want to focus in on the door and wall specifically . Did you try a much more drastic verticle crop from the right ..with the tower as a drop back of sorts.
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!
    Thx, Rod

Greg, I like your comp alot here. Very good, IMO. I would try just increasing the exposure value a 1/3 or so if you shot this in RAW, but still Very good.
I also think focusing on the door and using enough dof to bring the tower in sharp would be best, but, again, I really like this.

    Re: Watertank and Door

The composition is nice but the overall lighting isn't so great.

It looks to me like you used a split ND filter to darken the sky but make the watertower too dark. Nice exposure on the brick and door, poor exposure on the sky and tower.
    No, I DON'T need that.
