Your approach is definitely original. The problems are the fence in the foreground which is unfortunately obscuring part of the waterfall and the background which is equally distracting. I am not sure that there is any solution for improving this shot.
Interesting shot! I love how the silhouette frames the shot. The fence on the bottom adds a neat contrast between color and darkness. The background is a little busy, but I think it still works as the waterfall is covering the majority of it. Colors are ok and DOF is nice,
I agree with ronnoco, I can't find anywhere for my eyes to rest and the BG isn't interesting enough to make up for it. I don't mind the framing of it using the fence/walls. Kudos on trying something different.
