Water & Rocks

I've been too busy lately to do much shooting, but I wanted to see if I could get some comments on these shots. I took these earlier this summer, but it seems like something just isn't working the way I would like. Any recommendations?

The first one looks a little like it might be leaning. I wish I had number two hanging on my wall and three is very good but could stand to be a little wider. Excellent processing on all three.

Great shots there! No. 3 is my favorite of the series. The only thing that I would do is make the colors a little flatter...specially the green is a tad strong for my taste and makes it a little districting...other than that ...GREAT.

I like all of these, the processing looks great, and I love the slow shutter on the third.

Only issue I see is that the second makes me think my screen is dripping with saturation.

But I really like them. I've only shot waterfalls once, and I forgot my tripod!!! Fail.

I agree with Greg, it looks like that in the first shot the camera was not level, and I absolutely love the second shot. The third makes me want to jump out of the water, I get the feeling I am standing in it. Very Nice Work

I think if anything, I'd like to see the foliage green tones in number one, applied to 2 & 3 (not sure it'd be better, but I'd like to see it )

Thanks for all the nice comments. As can be seen, I tried a variety of different ways to process this because I was looking for something that I wasn't finding. I have even tried it in variations of B&W. I will have to also try rotating the first one, but I don't think that's what's bothering me.

As I think through this, I think I'm more bothered with the flat lighting, but I'm not completely sure.

Now that we know what's bothering you, maybe we can give more specific help. I tried punching up the last photo to get it to look less "flat" I boosted the white balance to 6000k (from 5001 in original), removed the green cast (was +7), and used the "clarify" slider at an intensity of 3.5. Is this any closer to what you were hoping for?

I like the original better, both the cropping and colors. But each to his own, I would hang any of the 5 of them.

I was going to ask for a landscape shot rather than a portrait from your original post. I wasn't impressed with the portraits, but this one is spectacular. I would hang this with much pride in my house. EXCELLENT shot!! I live to shoot waterfalls and shots like this reinforce my obsession about why I love them so much. Thanks for sharing these shots

PC I like the wider version better but they are all wall hangers. I don't shoot falls much but when I do I try and expose more for the water. Kinda like shooting snow, even though I haven't seen any snow around here in a while. I try and get as much detail in the water as possible. But I guess you know that. Great work on them all. I also know when shooting falls you are limited with angles ect, due to the environment.
Last time I went to shoot falls a fellow photographer had a ND filter and his shots came out slightly better than mine. Even though it was a cloudy day.

Interesting how your photos here have so much happening in them, PC. They seem to be telling a story, and certainly aren't boring.

I like the 2nd and 3rd from the original posting though both may be a bit oversaturated. As nice as they are, I feel something is missing with them .. not sure what. Sorry I can't be more specific!
