    Water on Metal

Taken today...it rained last night, and there were some nice droplets on my patio chairs this morning.

I've heard a lot of talk about the "horizantal one" in your other thread, I took on a quest to find the illusive "horizantal one".

aah. I found it! Just as nice as the other one IMO. love the deep rich black, I can just imagine a print of this nicely mounted with lots of white space around it. I love this kind of shot.

I really love the sharpness of this image, although it does leave me curious--which isn't necessarily a negative remark.

What exactly is the black backdrop? I imagine that the upper ring of the image is either the backing of the chair, or you're looking down on the seat? How did you get the highlights on the metal?

    Again, I really enjoyed this!

    Re: Water on Metal

I have looked at both of these two photographs and like this one the best.
I like it better because I like how you placed the three bigger drops in the corner, it creates a wonderful point of tension in the frame. My eye goes right to them and then scans the rest of the frame. I like the repetition in the other drops as well as the lines of the back of the chair.
The black on black is good too!
It is somewhat of a challenge to get a good exposure under such conditions.

    Re: Water on Metal

Thank you all for your thoughts and feedback on this!
Leels...I've been thinking about printing this and the other one with one other shot I got...as sort of a series.
Themage, I was afraid to make the whites too bright on this...although I can see what you mean!
    John...thank you!
Pose, the backdrop is actually the deck/patio...I was looking down on the chair seat. When I looked at the original, I decided I liked it better in b&w, and upped the contrast a bit.
Chunk, what an awesome compliment...thank you so much!
Brian, thank you as well, like I said on the other pic to Chunk, I had someone else comment on liking the larger drops on this one as opposed to all the same size range of the other shot. Thank you for your thoughts on this!

    Thanks again all!

    Re: Water on Metal

Congrats on the sticky, Emily. Well deserved. Excellent composition. Sharpness is very good, lighting was right, exposure right on. Your placement of the three largest drops up in the right corner of the frame is perfect. One for the portfolio, and as Chunk said, enter this in competitions, it's very strong.
    Great job
