The forground leaf is beautifully exposed and the detail is great. I do find the bright spots in the background somewhat distracting and would have like to see them toned down a notch or two to help me focus on the leaf.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Thanks pointbreak, yogestee, OT & Ronnoco...I appreciate your thoughts on this. I did take several of this type, and have a few different experimental crops, so I'll see about posting one or two more.
Just a quick note to tell you that I really like this shot. I agree with the recommendations to improve it, but I think it's outstanding as is.

Hi Emily,
I like the vivid detail of the leaf. The bright areas in the background echo well with the water droplets. Very well done! By the way, does the lens have six blades?

Yoyo...I have to tell ya, I'm still woefully uneducated about my lenses and such...I don't know!
This was taken with my 18-55 lens, with a 3x filter though.
Gorgeous shot. I like the circular glitter in the back but not so much the area in the upper left. I think a vertical crop of the left side would make this shot a lot better. Still a very nice shot as is though.

Wow - What detail - This is really good but - I always have a but hanging around LOL
but is it me or has this photo gor a vertical line coming down from the top just to the left of the leaf? Did you get a hair in the way? LOL
If it was mine I would crop out the big bright patch on the left giving you more of a square crop. and I would also consider rotating it so that the vein of the half leaf is vertical just to see what you end up with. - Just read the rest of the comments - I'm thinking the same sort of thing as Leels.
Still an outstanding shot

Roger...lol! I use a Canon Rebel XT...and had the 18-55 lens w/x3 filter for this one.
And thank you! You're not imagining that line...I see it now too...and honestly, I don't believe that's a hair. It might be a thread of silk or something from an inchworm or spider...but I don't know! I will definitely take the cropping and such into consideration.
Emily, it just goes to show you how great PR is. How far many of us have come in just one short year. I know that I don't post as many pics as some of us, but I have noticed a great improvement in my shots as well. I think, like you, I have just simply learned how to better judge my shots and frequently know even before I ask, what the critiques are going to be. I personally love this shot. It's the kind of things I take. But I can also understand, NOW, what everyone is saying about the crop, the face, positions, etc. Isn't it nice to know how far you've really come in such a short time? Simply to understand and to have fun doing it. Keep up the great work!!! Ken
I totally agree with your thoughts on PR too...I definitely feel like I've come a long way in the time I've been here...in the set up of shots and different elements.
