Interesting shot, and I like it for the most part. The colors are great and really gives me an autumn feel. I feel that the shot is a little centred, though I'm not sure what crop would fix that for me. I do have a problem finding a strong enough subject, but I think this could do well as is.

    Interesting shot.

Hey TX. I'm looking at this on a monitor that makes everything look dark so take this with a grain of salt. I agree with Jared, that there just isn't much of a subject to hold my attention. the reflections are nice, but just not enuf for me. Also, the area where the ground meets the trees is very dark and I would like to see more detail in that area. Again, this could just be this monitor and the detail I'm looking for might be there on a dif. monitor. One other thing that I find really distracting that is a very easy fix is that everything is leaning to the left.

Not bad, but I would have preferred that the water take up a larger percentage of the frame. It really seems more like supplement to the photo, with the emphasis going to what's behind the trees, where there really isn't anything there.

I've shot a lot of these type shots. It always seems to be hard to find an adaquate subject... great supporting stuff though. Maybe the answer is to bring a model along with you and have her be the subject?

    Hi TX,
I think you have a beautiful water hole scene here. As the rest have said I really like the colors and the sense of tranquility that this image creates.
I think GB1 has made a valid suggestion about introducing a person to a scene like this. It's just perfect for someone to be leaning against a tree on the opposite side of the water from you perhaps looking at a reflection in the water or resting against one of the trees reading. Next time you go to this spot it might be fun to bring a friend along with you and see what you get. Just a thought. . .

    Re: Water hole

Thanks for the suggestions. I was alone that day, but maybe I'll bring the lady next time.

( she dosent like her pic taken )

The reason it leans to the left is because thats what the pasture does. It's not a level field.

I saw the opening in the tree's and I figured that would make a good shot out into the row of tree's in the center of the picture. There were horses in the area, but I wasn't going to wait untill one happened to venture into the center of the tree's ;)

    Thanks again for the comments.

TX, I think what's missing are horses grazing. Looks like a nice day.
