    Water break

From the trails in Las Vegas, I guess the horses come here to drink when The damn mountain bikers aren't scaring them away.

I think you should try putting just a little color back into the BG, selective coloring is kind of old fashion. I also think you should have had the bike pointing into the frame instead of out and maybe had it on the left side. I like the idea and the surroundings. The watering tub as well.

I agree the composition isnt all that. I just thought I would contribute something. Is selective coloring really old fashion? I guess I didnt know that although I thought it worked for the biking community that I hang out at. Im going to try with some color in BG next time

Great clarity, vetishot! SC may be old fashioned to photography in general, but since I am rather new to all this, I like it -- in certain photos, of course. While your composition may not be ideal on this one, you obviously have skills and a good eye. Looking forward to more from you.

I think the selective color is old news to those that have know how to do it for a long time. it was one of the first thinks I learned when I started learning ps not too long ago. I think it works best in very subtle amounts.

Yes. I am sorry, but I agree. Probably a bit better if the bike is pointing back in, but this is a spectacularly good shot. I like it a lot. Lets see some color put back in.

    Re: Water break

I wont state if this is old fashioned or not do to the SC.
I try to avoid thinking on that....either it works or not given the specific shot. This time I like it...Looks good IMO and I like the composition of the shot...the only thing that I think is extra its the water tank.

    Re: Water break

Personally, I like the unconventional composition here. The spot color is OK, but this shot's black and white background has the same problem I have on a lot of my B&Ws ... sort of a 'middling' density issue that makes nothing quite look right. What I see is the dirt too light and the rocks too dark, with almost no separation between foreground and sky.

I think this is what happens when color is removed and the density of the photo objects are too close together - they all blend together.

Perhaps the only answer is to bump up the contrast(?) Give it a try
