Pretty freaky looking. Looks like the tree is on fire and smoking away Is the shot missing something in the right side beach area? Hard to tell. But I think it might make it more interesting. The clouds were good that day, no question. Somehow, the scan looks a little funny on the sky, discontinous even.. But it could be the weather.

Well done, Tuna. Just my cup of tea. Your composition is very good. The placement of the tree with the two rocks beside it is very effective with the "empty" space to the right. Clouds and lighting are furthur adding to the interest and appeal of the image. Your processing of the image is superb. The clouds fading off into darkness near the horizon is eerie. The only suggestion that comes to mind here would be to crop very slightly from the bottom (just over the dark shadow coming into the frame at the right) to bring the horizon down a bit more, and a small crop from each side to keep the size format. Excellent work.
Almost ... so, so close.
That dark thing at the right, rock or pile of seaweed, is intruding.
Crop that and I think it improves.
But you still have that long thin shadow, I think it's from a pole, a sign maybe?
I'm not sure cropping above that shadow works, unfortunately, it all gets unbalanced when you crop from the bottom and I don't want to crop that beautiful sky.
Is this a night/dusk moonlit shot?
I like the subject and the composition, but I think I would prefer it in color. Not that I have anything against B&W, I just love the color of water, especially the ocean. I don't know what piece of civilization we can see across the water--is this a lake? A bay? I like pictures of water where it seems to go on forever. Some people are thrilled by heights or speed, I guess, but I am fascinated by the look and feel of being alone in the middle of an endless sea, although, in real life that would scare me to death.
