    watching the race ?

I thought the mountains in the distance, and the spectators just standing in the shade made a different view of the Nextel cup race at LVMS.

I must agree with you, my only problem is the lean to the right. Other than that I like it.

    Re: watching the race ?

I can relate to, and like the view from within perspective I also agree about the lean to the right. I think just including the one person leaning on the wall at the right would have been better overall. It would have opened up the narrow passage and also gave a feeling of being apart from the crowds. . a stronger perspective I think.

    Re: watching the race ?

Nice job Paul. I find myself getting way to focused sometimes on the event and passing up opportunities like this. I agree with Gary's assessment also. Whops... I thought I was on the sports forum and really didn't critique sorry. My one suggestion for improvement is a little more saturation of burn on the sky in the background to make it pop of stand out a bit more.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Re: watching the race ?

Paul - I too think that the mtns and spectators make a good shot. But I wish that the fellow on the left wasn't there: he does balance the shot, but, I finid the fellow leaning against the wall on the right the main subject. The photo could have also been a little more in focus and/or with more DOF, but it was dark.. better to get what you can than nothing at all.

    Re: watching the race ?

    Thanks everyone.
I thought it was perspective through not being straight on, rather than a lean, but I'll correct that.
I took another shot that I don't think works so well, but I'd be interested in a comparison.

I think that without flash was better and I agree that focussing on the silhouettes instead of the mountains might in retrospect have been the best choice

    Re: watching the race ?

The first without the flash is by far more effective. Only the guy on the left had to go. I think the sharpness and focal point looks fine, from this screen version anyway.
