    War Monument

I am on vacation in New England and came across this monument. What do you guys think of the shot. It can be found in Bennington Vermont, site of the grave of Robert Lee Frost.

Erected in honor of Brigadier General John Stark and the 1400 New Hampshire men who came to the defense of Vermont in August 17, 1777. Assembling at Fort No. 4 in Charleston, New Hampshire, Stark and his troops crossed the Green Mountains to aid in the defense of the newly established State of Vermont. As the commander and chief of all the American Forces from New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and New York, General Stark had approximately 2,000 men in all. In the first phase of the battle, General Stark's army defeated and captured a British detachment led by Lieutenant Colonel Friedrick Baum. Shortly after this triumph with the timely assistance of Colonel Seth Warner and his Green Mountain Boys, a relief column under Colonel Heindrick Von Breymann was repulsed. By thus denying the enemy sorely needed supplies, these twin victories near Bennington on August 16, 1777 contributed notably to the total British surrender at Saratoga two months later and to the subsequent military alliance with France, the turning point in the War for American Independence.

Great colours in the sky and the trees, would be nice to see the right hand flag pole a little more distinctly but overall it works.

You picked up good highlights in the tree leaves, considering the sky was so bright. The monument is also framed nicely by the trees. About the flagpole on the right, that's a tough one, because it looks like to get anymore of it centered next to the monument you would have had to move over a bit; then the road probably would not have been centered in the frame like it is.

Framed well inside the trees. The lighting was harsh but nothing is blown away, just some shadow areas with no detail. As noted already, you picked up some highlights in the trees which adds to this.
    Enjoy your vacation!

I like it Tyson. I think you did very good for the lighting that you had. The flag pole isn't a big issue im my book and you probably will notice some detail the the shadows once you have it printed. You could always move the flag pole in PS if it bothers you. I think it's very good as is.

Over all I was slightly disappointed in the end picture, I wanted to have a WOW shot. With the light on hand and the state of mind I was in (drove all night) I think it came out good.

    Thanks for looking.
