I shot this down at the waterfront in San Francisco. It's a statue by the ferry building and that's the Bay Bridge in the background. I got several shots of the statue, but I liked this one from the back the best. It seems to have the most "motion" to it. Shot this at 35mm. I think it was around f8 or so. Delta 100. I love that film. It's so sharp and bold, it practically does the work for me! Any comments would be appreciated!

I like it, but I think when you scanned (?) it in, it lost some sharpness. It seems a tad soft for me. I love the tones here, and the centeredness works. The background gets a tad busy, but with such a stark, contrasted subject, I think it works.

Yeah, such is life with my crappy scanner. Although I wonder if our monitors are a little off in this case. It's not as sharp as the print, but I'm still not seeing anything here that makes me think "soft". Oh well... there's a different version for every single different monitor that it displays on.
As far as the busy background goes, I actually cloned out an entire building, a couple of trash cans, a bird, and a person's shadow from the right-hand side of the picture! I see that NOTHING IS EVER GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU!!! Sheesh, Jar! You're killing me here!

The bridge bothers me a little. Shooting from a lower angle may have helped but also your horizontal position in relation to the bridge. It sort of looks like a long truss just cutting into your photo. Maybe if you would have gotten a little more of (sorry not up on my bridge terminology) one ot the support structures included off to the far right it could have helped things.

And it's just that nothing "you" ever do is good enough for anyone here ;)

I really like the idea behind this pic. The lone figure trudging towards the bridge. The large amount of negative space really helps emphasize the feeling. You did a very good job compositionwise, in spite of what some certain people say ahem! That said, it is a tad dark all through. But I think I can guess why. Now that you mention scanners, I am having some of the same problems. Dark pictures, soft/unfocused, colors off, etc. Though it is funny, my infrared pictures have scanned pretty well compared to my others. I don't know why. Great pic.
