Critique please, Which one or none? I tend to like the second one myself.
I shot these with film.

J - They are both OK. The compositions are good, but the time of day was rough on them - the top one is very contrasty, whereas the bottom one is somewhat flat due to lack of shadow. I wish the bottom one (which is also my favorite here) had a person standing in the middle of that sidewalk with his or her back to you, studying the art. It just seems to cry for that (note that the pic actually reminds me of something, perhaps an old movie where the people all disappeared.. The Omega Man? who knows I do see the people in the far right, but they're out of the attention area).

Btw, you might want to add just a tad compression to the shots .. they load awfully slow. The bottom pic has a whopping 767 kb size (!!) I DL'd it and applied only 10% compression, and it reduced the size to 307 kb with no noticeable difference.

I think I prefer the first because the people seem irrelevant in the second and could be cropped out completely without hurting the photo.

I agree the time of day hurt the photo's

I must have missed it in the exposer, because the day was not harsh at all. I actually thought that was pretty good with good light. I was waiting and waiting for someone to walk through the middle, with no luck. Back to the drawing board.
