Walking Back - Holga...

From a recent outing on a local river, fishing for trout. It's a place I have been to before, but had only been really noticed the texture of the rocks on this particular outing.
What do you think?

I'm a photog newbie -- I know there's "something" about Holga -- but I don't know what it is......

I really like this. I like the texture of the rocks. I like the softness of the background. I have no idea what you call it, but whatever is going on with the distortion thing to the rocks at the sides -- is cool. If the vignetting was symmetrical, I would like that. I don't like the lens flare? at the bottom, and the blown out highlights are a little bothersome to me. If your fisherman were a little more in focus, in spite of my nitpicks, it would be a great shot! What the heck is Holga, anyway??

Holga is a type of toy camera that uses 120 film. Due to its poor optics and the resulting distortions of the images it has gained a "cult" (for lack of a better word) status. Holga is also used to discribe a type of photography typical to toy cameras like the Holga.

I am not a Holga fan, but this shot is one that works for me, I like the subject selection, lighting, and composition. One of the Best Holga's I have seen.

Nice holga capture, I like the sun slightly peeking in from the top and the harsh shadows define the stones real well.

So that sort of fisheye circle of distortion at the outer edges thingy is characteristic of a Holga?

Ah! Thanks for clarifying who is Holga, but TBH I`m disappointed....I thought it was an exuberant model LOL!

The shot...this is the first time since I am a member in the forum where I see a pic with several thing that could be corrected, but I wont comment on any of them...why...the picture like it is is perfect, the whole thing just is and works...harsh highlights, subject out of focus, flares, vignetting, etc. All this are part of it and for my eye they are not flaws but part of the image and all of them contribute.

I am sure Brian can explain the (w)Hole Holga (pun intended) thing much better than I, but the way I understand it is each camera will have different optical distortions so in a nut shell to your questions yes.

Lots of atmsphere. I have tow holgas--a multiple exposure one and a fish-eye one, but im too lazy to use them.

Holgas are a different aesthetic in that the photographs aren't exactly "perfect" and all that, but for me that is part of why I use them.
I also enjoy using them because I like the challenge of making interesting and compelling photographs with such a basic camera.
