    Re: . . . waiting for Spring !

    Good idea (!!!!)

Areas that I think could be improved are

    - a different shooting angle. Not sure what, but a few expts would be good
    - a lighter image
    - remove (crop) the distracting left-side window frame
    - remove the bottom ledge
    - perhaps crop a little of the snow off the top

Btw they have a long wait living in Canada

Thanks for all your sugestions GB1 !
They will definetly be waiting a little while longer - not like sunny CA !
Not sure if I can get another angle that would not include unwanted surrounding clutter,
and I don't have any ps capability, but here's the result with your suggestions.
    . . . much improved !

Rivman - Excellant. This transforms the photo, IMO. I'd be interested in seeing others' comments on this too.

Hey, we did have our first freeze here in south San Diego last month..

The second one is better but the birds cut off on the left and right are a little distracting.

Thanks Greg  - it just sorta worked out that way.
I guess if I posed em up right I coulda eliminated that - but they sorta add interest to the photo, peering in from both sides, by causing you to look at the nice ones in the centre ?

    Thanks trog !
Unfortunately it's all, or nothing with the HP editing software - by loosing just enough darkness,
I blow out the snow detail. No fancy PS techniques on an HP budget.
Got a 'virgin' snowfall today, so we'll play again tomorrow - without the footprint !

    Re: . . . waiting for Spring !

I think this would be improved with fewer birds. I know they all want to be in the photo but with that many it looks a bit cluttered.
It would also make it so that you could take a closer shot.

Thanks Frog ! . . . you may have something there !
I'm going to try some more shots, so I'll thin out the flock, and move in closer.
