A good photo. Nice use of the rule of thirds and beautiful colour. I like the seperation of the mountain and the sky as well.

Nice work GB. I think you should crop just a touch of the foreground out and clone the far left tent hanging out of the frame.

Very nice shot, although I think I would have liked to see the older tents on the left a little more prominently, but perhaps doing that would have introduced other less desirable elements too...

Agree with the comment on the rule of thirds, this works very well as it is IMO.

PS - Where's the snow!?! There really is hardly anything left there at all, it is startling to see how the environment has changed in such a vivid way (I was there in 1985 and again in 2002)

    Re: Waiting to be Conquered

    Thank you for commenting.

I didn't even think about the rule of thirds on this one. Guess it's becoming instinctive. But in this situation it was easy because the sky and foreground as interesting as the mountain.

The far left stuff is actually , I think, a permanent encampment. It doesn't look good cut in half like that.. One thing that really hurt on this trip was the way my wide angle lens was turned into a midrange lens by the lens factor issue (the D200 is not full frame and magnifies the lens by ~ 1.6x. Boooo. I am considering getting a D700 for that reason, but the cost is awfully high). It really cost me the wider perspective.

Herriot, there really wasn't that much snow on the mountain: almost none on the trail, but a little in the gullies in the shady areas. I put some in jars (which of course melted) to say that this snow (now water) came from Kilimanjaro. There are some decent sized glaciers up there though. You can tell that they've receded quite a bit too. Here's a photo of them.

Very nice picture. The clouds in the sky really are working well for you here. I second the idea to slightly crop the bottom a bit. There isn't enough structure in the foreground to lead you into the picture.
