    Waiting

I wanted a candid of somebody near the graffiti which I really like, so sat there pretending to take shots of the graffiti, whilst using a wide lens to actually get hold of a person or two. This chap sat there waiting for something or someone, looking a little sad if i'm honest and it seemed to match the rough looking area and graffiti. Nightmare to expose etc but I think it's come our well. Desaturated as the colours were just too happy for the scene otherwise. Hope you like it.

    Re: Waiting

I really like it. I would take of a little from the right ....since the graffiti seem to get lighter at the end. It would also remove a little of the ceiling - which would be good as well since the strong lines in it draw us a little away from the subject. Nice.

    Re: Waiting

You seem to have just the right amount of light there. Somthing I need to learn. On phone right now, will check out the rest later. Reminds me of how I felt in my Homeless days.

I'd love to go back to the Big City and Take similar shots. You seem to have all the right settings. Well done. looks lonely...as well as waiting.

PS, I think "llewpics" makes very good suggestions which I should note myself for future reference. Good Call.

    Re: Waiting

There is very little emphassis on the subject, which I think is the man. What are you emphasizing more, the graffiti or the man? The expression and posture of the man seems to have some sort of implied meaning, which is hard to tell when he is such a small figure in the composition. Great way of converging the lines within the composition, but I think a vertical orientation, and much closer in would have really amplified this shots potential.

    Re: Waiting

its both. its not a portrait and it much more about the environment and tho graffiti rather than the guy. i couldn't really get closer as its a candid.

    nice lighting on the grafiti
I'd crop the image a bit from the top left that will bring up the man and at the same time cut some of ceiling

    Re: Waiting

thanks for the reply. only thing is, for me, the shot is all about the lines in the ceiling, the graffiti and the posts, as the man is only there to give a bit of context and to stop it being art theft. i think just shooting graffiti is like taking photo of someone else's photo, so unless its altered significantly, its not on. hence the guy, and also why i left him small. the original shot has even more ceiling!
