Right now I am working with a point and shoot and working towards a D70 so I am limited with the manual controls. What would the higher aperture give me?

    Love the colors xsport.

The "higher aperture" would give you a lot less light, wich in turn, would give you a slower shutter speed to compensate for the limit of light. The end result, would give you the same exposure, assuming that each was adjusted proportionally, but the difference would be in your depth of field. More of the image would be in sharp focus. There is a good chance tho that with f/22, your shutter speed would be too slow to hand hold the camera. In that case, use a tripod.

I like it, the silhouettes add a huge thing to the composition, though the ones on the left seem to be slightly out of focus. Nice shot,

Excellent shot. The branches to the left seem a little OOF, but the smaller aperture would help. Also, once you get a better camera that will have controls, you can also use the landscape mode and that will also keep everything in focus. Love the colors all the way through and the clouds that seem to be visible in blue area.
