    Very Rare Self Portrait

As I am usually the one behind the camera, stepping in front of it always makes me nervous. So, here is one of the very rare self portraits that I have. How is it? Does it need more contrast in the eyes? Is the crop okay? Exposure? And finally, how is the overall effect? Any suggestions are welcomed.

    Thanks!

I'm not a portrait expert. From what I have seen and read, this is defferent in a good way, I think.
The eyes are pretty sharp and most of the rest is soft which I think can be attractive in the right setting.
    I like the b/w.
Yes, I think, after study, that the eyes could use a little more contrast.

I'm by no way an expert, But here is my two cents.
First, off the eyes could have a little more contast.
Second, I would of crop just behind the ear, instead of half an ear.
Then there is a little anoying shadow just under your eyebrow.

    Beside this it looks good

I think it's a great shot, the composition is super, I could agree with the crop on the ear as suggested but would have to see what it looks like (maybe with the whole ear it could be good? and I'd have left a bit more space under the chin. All said though it's a great B&W. Well done. S

I think you've done well here. I think I usually like b&w's more contrasty but not when it comes to close up's of faces. this one to me is a very well done b&w close-up portrait. I think any more contrasty and it wouldn't work. This kinda shot needs this softness imo.

    well done.

I think overall it is very good. I like the softness and your expression as you captured it. Now that another poster pointed it out, the ear cropping is a little bothersome, but, I think I would crop it out -- barely -- and add just a little space under your chin. Nice.

Good work, you can take my portrait any time!

My only nitpik is that I would like to see the cheek with even more softness. I like the even tone of the black and white a lot and would not change that at all.

Thanks for sharing this one and please keep 'em coming.
