Not a very good angle, you can't see the person hardly at all. But the people walking by him is interesting.
Don, for what it's worth ya gotta stop the oversharpening! I know it's your photos, but take some advice on this one... this shot looks really weird with all that artifical detail which was injected. If you shots are coming out soft or blurry, address the root of the problem instead of slapping on the sharpening bandaid. You are probably not using a fast enough shutter speed, or are jamming the shutter button instead of pressing it gently. It's your shots.

Thanks GB. I am experimenting. Thanks for the feedback. I superimposed a sharpened image on top of the ordinary one (which wasnt bad) but my opinion is that the merged image sparkles. Don't forget this is much reduced.
i agree, the sharpness is a little harsh. but it might not be as bad if you had a little more color in the shot. i almost got lost when i was looking at it because there are lots of cyans and light blues, almost like you desaturated the picture? i love the concept though, and the shot is cool. i'd just play with the sharpening and colors a little more. maybe make his jacket a faded red or something so it pops from the center and viewers know what they're looking for.
Don - Hmm.. never heard of that technique. I think it's interesting now that you describe it. Perhaps it would work better on an inanimate object like a castle, etc? That way you know that the effect is to make the subject even more 'magical.'

I agree that this is not the best example. In addition to oversharpening, my ghost image was also de-saturated. I though the content was interesting and without risking my neck, this was the best shot I couild get.
Very thought provoking composition that makes the vagrant almost fade into the scenery, we don't always see the homeless in front of our eyes.
On the much mentioned sharpening topic: I am believe from looking at your recent posts if contrast boosting might give you more of the effect you desire with less of the degradation to the photo from such aggressive sharpening alone. Then you could sharpen the image as the last step in your post processing routine.
This amount of sharpening 'flattens' the photograph too much for the best effect. Look at the tree with the person w/purse and handles from cart/assist device and person seated on bench are, there is no discernable difference in them and the building. This 'flattening' takes away from the solidity and resultant weight of the photograph.
This photograph could also be one that a subtle touch on desaturation could make it much stronger.
Best wishes and keep them coming! You have a very good topical photo here, I just feel it could be presented in a more powerful fashion.
