    Urban/social batch of photos

Part two of my photos from Saturday, the non-nature photos. I had my camera up and ready for everything I saw, and these are the best of the batch. Some of it is a social commentary in a way. I used both my 28-80mm Nikkor and the 70-300mm Sigma. I could say a bit about each one, but I'd rather see what you get out of each photo without knowing anything first.

(I'm not sure if this next one works or not...)

Let me know what you think...

Little white lines (black, actually). This is a photoshop person's nightmare. Not one but tons of them to remove. Yuuck!

They're ok but I think that they sort of miss their mark. If the backgrounds were really nice looking, say scenery of some nice mountains or really nice parts of town, you could use these as a series to show how lines can mess up great views. But the backgrounds are pedestrian to me: they add a mess to something that's already an eyesore, imo.. but I've never been a city guy.

Anyway, was worth a try. I'd be interested in seeing others' opinions.

It seems to me that the wires are the point of the collection.

Edit.... power generation, distribution and... consumption definitely seem to be the focus of the series.

I would say the same thing, and because of that, I guess these photos aren't supposed to be pretty, but instead revealing. Instead of making these things look their best (covering up or avoiding the worst), I made them look like what they really are, as much as I could. In other words, this is the reality of society today in many places, as much as one may try and look beyond it. I guess I'm just trying to do my duty with these few pics to see if I can get anyone to think more about this...

I like the concept. IMO, #2 and #3 do the best job at conveying the ugliness and I think you did a really good job at making the wires pop.

An interesting challenge may be to try and find beauty in the mess.

Yeah, and those two were the ones where I was trying to do that the most. My focus in the first was on the Georgia Pacific plant in the background, and the wires happened to get in there too. The fourth one, of the building, was actually meant to be more beautiful I guess, showing the aging, weathering building that has seen better days. As for the last one, I'm not even sure about that one yet. I just thought I'd add it because I had it available.
    Thanks for the comments.
