    Chunk-
Great shot, love the concept, and the colors are seriously crisp!

    Hello Chunk,

This is a nice composition magnified by the remarkable colours and textures. It's simple and highly effective as far as I am concerned.

    regards

    ...

I LOVE this shot. I dunno, for some reason this shot really spoke to me. That fresh life on something so old and deteriorating. I dunno, it kind of has all kinds of meanings.

I really like it. And the sharp contrast of colors makes it.

WOW!!! Can I lend this idea for an up and coming comp on "Rust"??

Very neat composistion....... so simple.........almost looks like the graphics were placed.

The detail is supurb and the concept of the new rising from the old is subtle. The colours are just enough (not over saturated). Do they have a favorites file to save to on this site? This one is well worth referring to later.

    Thanks for sharing

Thanks for all the nice comments. I'd forgotten about this shot which I took while shooting for the infrared project a while back. I found it yesterday while looking through some old directories and am glad I posted it.
This morning after reading your posts I got to wondering how important the color was.
Here's a grayscaled version that I messed with a little in curves. I think its still a good image but not as strong as the color version. Splitting to rgb channels may be a better way to go.

No problem, Irish. I don't think permission is ever needed for shooting similar shots to what we see here or anywhere. I'm flattered that you ask. Let us see what you find.

I always like to see the little gardens nature gives us as she recovers from our human foolishness.

    Well Done

I see that this has been up for a couple of days, but I am just viewing it. Well done. Very nice image. I love the saturation of color in the rusted barrel and the compostion shows a that you have a keen eye. My only nit on this photo is that on my monitor the green of the leaves seem to be a little light with slightly blown highlights. I love the second image on this post. Once again wonderful eye for form and compostion.

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment. You're right about the leaves. Being the newest leaves on the tip of the vine they are quite light in color and although I did try to deal with the highlights I want to be sure to keep details in the deepest part of the rusty holes, I could have done better. I'm going to make another attempt before printing it as a housewarming present for someone who is starting a new life in a few different ways.
On the second pic - I'm a real sucker for patterns and contrasts and this has each in a few different ways.
