    Seb,

I really like the patterns and the textures of modernity. I have to say that as i scrolled the image down, I didn't like the bottom. Did you try a square crop... bit off the top and take the bottom off? I usually like context, but this image wants to be the lines and colors only in an abstract space. The light pole would be enough context for me without the ground. Just my thoughts.

Seb, I like the technical quality, and I like the rich colors (and greys), but this shot is just too busy for my tastes. I suppose I should be going to the lamp post first, but it doesn't quite stand out enough to make it instinctual.
I could be missing the point, though... I'm usually drawn to simpler shots.

I like the starkness of this one. The 'height' aspect I also like. Would it have been better if the lamp post was placed in front of the lighter building (this would also have taken it off center)? But by moving to one side to achieve this may well have caused you to lose something else.

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan

Thanks everyone, I am always interested to see how different people will perceive one scene.

Tim: I never thought about a square crop at the first place. I just tried it following your comment and I feel that it works in its own way although it makes me miss the feeling of height of the original. What about simply cropping the sidewalk (and a little part of both side to preserve the ratio) without touching to the top?

McMadCow: I felt this one was rather simple lol. Well, it could be cleaner, I would have done without the tree and the lamp post in an ideal world but they were there so... Thanks for sharing your view.

Tom: The centered lamp post originally was my only concern with this one. I know that I can't move further to the left as I would include sky otherwise (the left side is the edge of the left building). I can't remember why I didn't tried to further move to the right though. I guess I'll go for a reshot when I have some spare time.

    Nat: Interesting take! thanks!
