    Up the coast

Here's another composition question. This is a view by where I work. I've always loved this spot but, just never quite sure which way to shoot it. This was shot with the Canonet and Tmax 100. Processed in HC-110 dil. H. Again, same with the mill, slightly over developed the negs so sorry the contrasting isn't the best. Any thoughts on how to shoot this spot?

    Re: Up the coast

Looks great to me but I love the coast so I show favoritism.

    How can I be lost
If I've got nowhere to go?

    Re: Up the coast

    Aaron,

The first one doesn't work for me as your too high looing down on the small rocks whereas I would have gotten lower to the rocks and shot upwards at the scene.

The second I would crop out the two rocks bottom left and tightened up starting halfway up to the first rock on the right.

Tyson, these were shot in the Marginal Way in Ogunquit

Thanks Roger for the suggestions You think that second one would work better in more of a pano ratio then? Maybe a little something like this?....

Yep to me that's much better, but crop a section of sky so that the horizon isn't central.

    Re: Up the coast

i really prefer the 2nd one and agree with roger re: the horizon line. however, being a noobie i find it so very hard to critique much at all.

perhaps newcomers feel intimidated too much to offer suggestions although i see that this is one criteria for posting.

    i know that i am.

I felt this same way before and still do to some extent. I even started a thread about it a while ago. I think adina said it best though...
