There's a lot of green around, is his hair meant to look green?
I'm wondering if it's filtered light under the shade of a tree or something.
The B&W looks good, just because it doesn't have the colour cast.

First of all that is one cute little boy! :-) and you took a fantastic portrait of him, good job! I just think you need to tweak your processing a bit and you'll be golden ;-) the lime green tint is a real distraction, and while your edits are better, they still look a little muddy (not as sharp as they could be) and now a little blown out. Here is a quick and dirty I did in Lightroom, and I'd actually like to go back and do another, where his pretty hazel eyes are better showcased..but as you can see I was able to sharpen up your original quite a bit, and give it a little more pop. I don't know if you have Lightroom or not, but it is da bomb for processing your shots, I couldn't live without it :-)
And seriously, you really did get a great capture of this little boy, I really like it a lot!.

I LOVE how you edited this!! How did you do it?? Is it possible to achieve this effect in photoshop elements 8?

Thanks ;-) I've just recently started shooting kids/people, after only shooting animals LOL and I'm actually having quite a good time with it. I don't know if you could get the same effect with Elements ( I don't see why not) although I have Elements, I don't use it very often, so am not real familiar with it. I think Paintshop is similar right? Maybe I'll put it in Paintshop and see what I can come up with. But I highly recommend Lightroom if you can swing it, you will love it, fantastic program IMHO.
