    Untitled Waterscape.

What are these things called? (Need a title, and if I knew what the subject was, such a task would be much easier)

I am near these 2 or 3 times a year, and will probably get more opportunities to shoot them. Other than grain from the high ISO, how can I improve this? (dont know if the bird flying is good or bad)

Could be channel markers or just towers for other reasons. Need to look at the charts of the area to identify their purpose.

Bird flying is to small to see in this size of photo on the full originial it may be okay. Depends on how big your going to go.

As for the photo I can't decide if I like it or not. I am definately thinking about it though. Try B&W for these. It could be interesting. It could be the horizon not being straight is putting me off or that it cuts the photo in two.

You couldn't do much more. Great composition in the placement of the, bouys?, the bird is a added element if you ask me. I can't tell if the horizon is perfectly level or not? Beautiful work IMO....

I think you have done ok here, however the subject (tower/buoy) is cropped too tightly at the top. Also, the horizon should not be so close to center. The exposure looks well, and I like that you placed the object off to the side.

I'm pretty sure it's level, held down shift and drew a line in Fireworks, then aligned the horizon using that as a reference. You can click the image in most of my posts for a larger view.

This is the same shot, all I did was level it and crop it around the leveling, should I crop from the bottom or top to get the horizon away from the center?

Also converted to sepia and Black and White.

The one in the OP was cropped to fit a 16:10 aspect ratio widescreen

Personally, I'm all for the b&w version. It makes the water look like glass and the sky like some surreal setting.

I like the b&w version as well. Too much blue and gray in the original. The b&w takes on a stronger mood and becomes more intrigueing

I prefer the B&W and the toned to the original. I lean more to the B&W for this though.
