Very interesting effect: the way the real people blend in with the painted figures in the background. Beautiful natural light. Very nice.

Excellent eye and sense of knowing where to shoot from. The lighting on the man in the fg brings him up nicely while the lighting on the painted mural exhibit in the bg is equally well exposed. the persons walking the exhibit are silhoutted nicely in the middle. Knowing your lighting and being aware of it in any environment is key and you are masterful at it.
    Well done.

Your picture has the same meaning/concept of loneliness and isolation that Edward Hoppers "Nighthawk" has.

    At least for me...quite great.

There is a lot to look at and take out of this image. Your exposure was spot on and I love the color range here.

My only complaint is that the image feels a bit unbalanced to me. If you had pointed the camera just a tad more to the left so the "d" in Edward was just kissing the right edge of the frame and there was the same difference on the left edge of the frame I think it would be perfect.

Not that I don't think this is a really good image or anything......
    No, I DON'T need that.

Very nice. Perfect composition and the exposure is perfect. The gentelmans white clothes against the darker background works well. For some reason the gentlenmans face appears to be the same as the painted ones on the wall. I guess the way the lighting is hitting his face makes it so. If that makes since. Great work as always.

I think you captured the light perfectly. The light appears to flow from the center of the mural outward. The tension, for me, is created by this effect, the mural as a place of color and art, an alternate universe, with the resigned, world weary man in the foreground (the only other person displaying color) separated from it by a river of shadowy commuters. I think it is outstanding. Street photography, is for me, more about not taking the shot than taking it, by this I mean waiting for the moment when the composition reaches an apex, it is the right moment and you just take it home with you. That is the feeling I get from this shot.

I love it. One of my favorite paintings with another layer added thanks to your great shot. With a different set of clothing and hat, the gentleman in the foreground could easily be a subject in the original painting. It looks as if the people walking by the painting are on a sidewalk that is outside of the cafe, and they are part of the painting as well.
