    Re: untitled candid

Ok, I'm guessing from the lack of response that this is a dud, but I'll try once more...

Does this shot make you wonder what's going on? Can you tell at all?

Does it appear that I've caught a moment here, or do you think I've just invaded someone's privacy?

I'm not looking for critique on technical things. Just wondering if the composition is at all interesting.

    Be honest. Be ruthless.

    Thanks,
    Paul

Yes Paul it certainly looks like you captured a moment. Lots of mood and emotion. It makes the viewer think. In my case I think the guy has done something dumb and his wife has been letting him have it, just my interpretation though. I love the Bokeh on this. What lens did you use and did you shoot wide open?

    Paul ...

I have come back to this photo several times and really didn't know how/what to respond.

You have definately caught a "moment". The photo made me a little uncomfortable. Makes me wonder what was really going on.

    My interpretation:
The guy looks like he has asked for something and been told a definate "NO!" followed by a "We will discuss this later ... not now ... not in front of all these people. And besides ... Paul is watching/listening". :blush2: The look in her eyes says BACK OFF!

Yep ... it looks, to me, like you were busted.

    Darned good shot though.

    Greg and Dave,

    Thanks for commenting.

At first I liked the tension in the shot, but now I'm not sure I'm comfortable with people's interpretations. I didn't think anyone, including myself, was in trouble at the time I took it. I just saw a guy leaning in to hear what his wife was saying and it reminded me of how my girlfriend never talks loud enough in public. And then I got busted taking it.

This was taken with my Heliar Classic 50mm f/2. I think it was wide open, but it could have been stopped down a half stop (whatever that is). Probably 1/30, maybe 1/15 sec. TriX in DDX.

    Thanks,
    Paul

Yes the lady is DEFINATLY pissed off, maybe shes only anoyed at having her picture taken. Dont know if its at you or him or something else we cant see. my freinds get anoyed that i always have my camera out. But its not your usual happy/happy shot, its interesting in that, for me, i want to know whats going on. im nosey. Definatly feel the emotion in the shot. so i say its a good picture.

I think it looks too posed and prefer the candids with absolutely no camera interaction.
