Very symmetrical, and sort of busy. There is a lot to look and focus on in this shot.
But I like it.

George Zimbel: Digital diahhrea is a disease for which there is a simple cure. Take one frame of a scene. It is exquisite training for your eye and your brain. Try it for a month. Then try it for another month…then try it for another month…..
I like the symmetry of this in spite of being typically an a-symetrical sort. I like the lighting. I like the colors and exposure and focus. I like the subject matter. What I don't like is wondering why the pot-less plants??

MB1- thank you for the feedback. Me too, and yes it was
danic – I appreciate your comments. Thank you.
Shebang – thanks for the keen observations. I’m guessing that the palms were put there and that the workers hadn’t yet cleaned up the dirt.
Hexnut – I’ll investigate your suggestion. Thanks!
susaan – Your comment is very useful to me.
This shot was a grab shot of an area undergoing renovation. I walked here from the other direction (behind the mirror) and didn’t think anything of the scene until I turned around. It just seemed very odd to me to see piles of dirt in an otherwise “clean” setting – like something we’re not “supposed” to come across. The lighting and lightness, I had hoped, would point towards that strangeness. Didn’t know what to think about the position of that mirror though.
Well, then, it struck me like it struck you. Why such a nice area and then two piles of dirt. I'm thinking how do you water those palms -- WHAT A MESS!

Sort of a gag shot . I find myself drawn more to the top roof architecture instead of the floor, which is too monotone. I think I would feel that way even if the dirt piles were not there. That roof design is almost hypnotic.

I see what you mean about the architecture and floor. Not sure what you mean as a "gag shot" though.
Loupey, I think I agree with GB about the floor. I wish it were contrastier - that the grout/spaces between the flooring popped more.
That said, I'm strangely drawn to this image. I'm glad that the sky is overcast; I'm not sure I'd have liked it as much had it been clear blue.
I like the fact that everything is, as susaan pointed out, just shy of perfectly symmetrical.
And I dig the lighting. Looks artificial (almost as though you put up a couple of big softboxes at low power, even though I know you didn't) - in a good way.
There's a lot to look at in this image - a lot graphically to take in - yet the overall feeling is serene.
A pun, or spoof, on the overall scene. A nice architecturally sophisticated scene, but with a couple of piles of dirt on the floor.

I think it is a terrific shot, taking advantage of what is given to you. The pristine environment, and then two piles of dirt. If I didn't know better, I would wonder if this wasn't some kind of new-age art piece. In reality, I feel quite certain it is just what you suggest, an unfinished bit of landscape work. Love the setting and the architectural integrity of the shot. I am not bothered by the white sky, it fits well with the rest of the shot. In fact, if the sky were blue it would have changed this entire image. I don't think you would see blue regardless, given the type of glass comprising the roof.
maybe try a vertical shot to complete the arche's symmetry?
Good point - one which definitely would have been an interesting change. Unfortunately, there was a sprinkler pipe running just above the image shown and I was very mindful of going any higher. Thanks for commenting!
I actually like this last shot the best. The first one has so much it hurts my eyes. Interesting, but painful to try and sort out all the details. I really like the simplicity of the last shot. Nice framing by the door in the foreground and the stuff in the background. If you could have gotten a reflector to get a little light on his face, that would have been nice
