    Re: Underside

Great capture. I am really digging the bokeh. I love the lines created in the bg and the almost reflection of the fern on the left. Is it light streaming in from upper center that creates the perpendicular lines?

    Re: Underside

When did you get yourself an E-PL1, I thought you were a nikon shooter.

Anyway - its an interesting arrangement of shapes and a pleasant enough composition, but there is softness on the top right corner and even in the center of the image that I think hurts the shot. The softness in the center I find particularly confusing though, not sure why it is soft...

The colors and detail are great. Love the comp, too.

Was this shot with a macro? Extremely wide dof? Because there's a lot of blur/bokeh and very little seems to be in focus...

    Re: Underside

Thanks Arne, the vertical lines are from a fence

Anbesol, I had been considering it since PhotoJohn posted his review, and recently I was too tempted by the prices of the refurbished EPL1 in Adorama I wanted something smaller than the full DSLR, the in body IS and a mount adapter allows me to use my nikon lenses at impossible low speeds compared to what I can do with the D300 (for the non VR lenses), all in all couldn't resist any longer not buying it.

    Dray,
Shot with the kit lens 14-42, The focus spot was a bit low and a bit to the left, and "wide" open at F5.6, zoom at 40mm, camera at the closest focus distance, like 20cm, so... the DOF is tiny

    Thank you all

very nice hues throughout the image. good composition. i like the diagonal lines here, i think they work. love the brown accents provided by the tiny 'flowers'.

    overall berry berry good!

    Re: Underside

The vertical lines and color of the bg are great in offsetting the subject. i like the very limited dof here. My only gripe is i wish the leaf right in back of the subject leaf were not so prominent and perhaps a bit further away.

It's a really nice shot. Technically correct or not, I like the limited dof, too. It seems that even some of the buds are only partially in focus. An interesting effect.

    Re: Underside

It could use a little more DOF Armando, but the issue I have here is how powerful and somewhat distracting that upper left red is. Maybe a crop in on this one, of the very sharp area, would work even better.
