Hi anew...this is a really neat picture. I love the tones, and the silhouettes of the people on the other side of the underpass. The only nit I have with it is that I don't think the street lamp on top of the underpass adds anything to the scene...but it doesn't look like you can do anything about it, since it's so close to the one side there.
Otherwise, I like this a lot.

Anew, I like the subject and the tones you've captured here. I also like the street lamp at the top to break into the sky and add a bit of tension. However, there is something about this that just does not feel right to me and tough to pinpoint it, but I think it is the vertical framing of this scene that feels awkward to me. . . i feel like I want to see this in a horizontal comp. I would not take it as a critique as I feel it there is nothing "wrong" about it, just my personal take on it.
emily - thanks for the comment, glad you like it, although i was worried about the aeriel at the back more so than the street lamp, it's always good to hear another persons view on an image, makes you see things you miss!
gary - thanks for the crit, and your take on the street lamp! I've attached another pic, this one in landscape format, let me know what you think,
Anew,
I concur with Emily, the landscape shot is much more interesting to me. It really seems to fix all of the questions I had (but didn't voice) about the first image. Thanks for putting them both up for some comparison.

Anew, this composition is much stronger and allows me to feel "comfortable" viewing it. It is the other end of the underpass, I take it. You have framed this well. I can examine all the interesting elements in this, such as the graffiti, texture of the concrete, the sky, and ultimately my eye is looking to return to the silhouettes in the underpass after taking in all the rest. Well done
i was veering towards the portrait pic myself, but good to hear the reactions of people, and i can understand why you would prefer the landscape, all in all the more balanced picture of the two....................
