    under the fall

so what do you think? The only thing that kinda bothers me about this pic is the little clouds in the top right stick out a bit to much..

Very busy shot but I like it. So many different levels of activity, textures, and contrast. I like looking at this shot to explore it section by section. The clouds bother me. I wish there wre more clouds personally.

    Good work!

The waterfall makes the photo a bit disjointed, it should be more of a focal point or not included. There is a lot going on in this photo and this makes for too much clutter, and the clouds add to that feeling.
I think a simpler composition and more of a focal point would have been preferable on this photo.
Tones, contrast, and detail look really good.

    Cheers.

    Re: under the fall

I have three issues with this photo

    1. I think it would probably be better in full colour or just black and white

    2. The tree is dominating the picture and is too central splitting the photo in half. Moving more to your right would have given you a better picture of the falls and moved the tree to the left of the picture making it a less prominent part of the picture. I assume you were going for the falls and that you could have moved to the right of course.

    3. some selective work on the sky to give it some presence would help to.

Sorry for the thumbs down but it just doesn't work for me.

    Re: under the fall

well i only have an editing program that i can change to b/w and sepia....and i use microsoft paint to resize them...in straight up b/w it seemed even busier than it already is. ....As for the framing of the shot....i also agree that the tree is to centered...but from under the water fall there wasn't to much room to work with and at the time to many people being space invaders.

    Re: under the fall

Hi Brian, after looking at your home page, I'm curious as to which editing program you are using. You have a good talent and a good eye. IMHO, it would behoove you to start saving your pennies and purchase a top of the line editing program, although, from your home page, it looks like you're doing pretty good with what you have.
As for this post, I have to agree with everyone else. If you get a chance to go back...just bump the space hogs out of the way and try to get more of the falls and less of the tree. I'm kind of on the fence with the sepia, it works, but I'm not sure what bothers me about it.
    Good luck and nice job.

    Re: under the fall

Love the detail in the falls. The others have valid points. Personally, the sepia works for me.

I think this is a good workable image. My recommendation is to make it square (or even slightly portrait) by cutting off at least 1/3 of the left side of the image. That would bring some balance between the tree and waterfall which are contrasting and interesting patterns.
