A great shot Yoyo. I especially like the comical, hunting mode position Fido has taken up and the tingy he is squating on almost becomes part of him. It would have been lovely to see his tail hanging down at the rear. I like the negative space but do feel it needs to be below Fido, giving the impression of Fido being on top of a high rise waiting to pounce but afraid to do so because of the height.
Nevertheless it's still great and I always look forward to your original submissions.
I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan
awesome shot Yoyo. You broke many "rules" but always in a good way.
It's bright and has lots of negative space, but both of these elements work very well. I like it above the cat, but OB might be right, did you get any with space below the cat?
I like it with the space on top. It leaves more of a sense of anticipation with the "what's gonna happen next " feeling as you have no idea what he is looking at below. The negative space above him draws your eyse to the cat and leves you wanting more, wanting to know what is down there.
Sort of like the "never catch the one armed man" theory in television. If you show me what's there... why do I need to look again? This way it leaves teh viewer with a sense of wonder. Nice job.
Shooting with an Olympus Evolt E-510 and loving it
The title of this thread alone is great, so the fact that it contains an awesome photo makes it even better. The space above the cat works wonderfully for me (kind of gives it a bit of suspense) and the posture of the cat is hilarious. I love it ;)
Hi Tom, Thanks for the suggestions. The cat on the top would constitute an other interesting shot. By the way, the cat was taking a rest in his place. He likes to sleep with this posture.
Hi Mr Yuck, Thanks for the kind words. The photo was shot with the compsotion in mind, thus there was not much space below the cat. I agree that a shot with more space below the cat would result in another context which is interesting.
Hi Jaedon, I am glad that the shot works for you.
Hi Liz, Thanks a lot for the encouragement. I am glad that you like the title. I was listening to an interview of Bertolucci the other day. He mentioned the unbearable lightness of hormones in his youth. That is the story behind the title of this shot.
Another great Yoyo Capture! Couldn't help smiling when I saw this. I love the negative space as well. I would like it below the cat but only if the cat was suspended above the space with nothing below (basically this image in reverse). I would like the idea of all that open space waiting for his pounce. There isn't a whole lot available for range in this and it works so well.
Yoyo - It's original and unconventional for sure. Like mr Yuck said, you broke some rules but you knew what you were doing. The only thng I could offer would be to try sharpening it up some more and/or use more DOF, but seeing how the cat was I bet he moved/wanted to move, so there's only so much you can do.

Great work, Yoyo. I like the space at the top because it goes with the comical sight of the cat in posture looking down on his victim while something could be looking down on the cat. The shadow on the wall of the cat's perch is the only thing that bugs me a bit. It could be cloned clean, but thats your call.
Great creativity in the composition of this piece.
Hi D, Thanks for sharing your perspective. Highly appreciated!
Hi GB, The shot was shot at f, 1.4. Your suggestions on DoF and sharpening are very valid.
Hi Gary, I agree the removal of the shadow would deliver a cleaner and minimalistic image, which should fit the shot much better. A very good suggestion!
