    Re: Udon!

I would like to see all the noodles in focus, rather than just the top.
f2.8 is for me a little too wide open.
You did well to hand hold this at 1/10 and you might not have managed it at 1/2 second.
So without a tripod this is probably the best you could get.

    Re: Udon!

I'm with Paul on this. This probably needed something like F5.6 and a tripod.

Other things to consider is that if the Sake bottle was important for you its doesn't come over that way as its to blurred.

If you intend to include the boys then make sure that the faces are included because the nearest boy needs a bit more face to make it work.

    I like the concept.

smaller lens opening and tripod.. with a dslr it would be pretty nigh impossible.. with a small senor compact u gain the greater dof but lose out on the sensors poor iso ability..

Eat it. Or better yet, ask me to eat it

Good advice here already. My tip is to try not to "say" too much at once. Trying to get the udon, sake, and boys to all work in the shot at once may be too much short of shooting it in a studio.

Think "simple". It usually works better than "busy"

    Re: Udon!

I think you have recieved some good advice for improvement already. For me, this can work ok as it is with a bit of tweaking. There is a warm yellow tint on the picture that is probably from Tungsten lighting in the area. Although your camera was set for auto white balance, it still did not get it all out. You can adjust the white balance some more in your photo editing software, such as Photoshop or paint shop pro. Also, the two blown out lights at the top right and left of the photo is distracting and can be taken out as well.
I like how you framed this scene and you did quite well under the circumstances.
