A Tween Age Portrait - Holga..

Here is the latest in my portrait work.
This is my son, he is 12.
I wanted a portrait that shows the "innocence" of of being his age where he is still a kid but has some of that attitiude of a teen.
What are your thoughts on it?
    Thanks!!

I think you nailed it perfectly, Brian. The first pic has more of the teenage attitude you're talking about, with the second, the posture seems more kidlike.

    Nice job.

The full shot is very nice. Arbus-like framing, subject and posture. With the eccentricities of the Holga adding to the relatively off-key Arbus feel.

    What Emily and Tuna said!

These are both very efficient. The face of your son seems surprinsingly sharp in the first picture. I can't recall an Holga shot with that kind of definition.

I like where you are going with these.

Brian, great concept and you have executed it well. I like the framing and style of both shots but the close up really has the impact for me. these work very well together. Great work

I have a 12 year old and I recognize that look.:eek6: I like the context details on the left photo, but it seems cropped too tightly to me. In contrast the right photo seems to distant, but that might be because of web resizing. Also, the tilted neck throws me -- my kids do that sort of un-natural posing sometimes.
